各位親愛的家長及同學：

Dear parents and students,

在今學年九月份，大家都開開心心地如常上課，當大家相信疫情快將過去，它又捲土重來，而且要再一次停課。令到大家的心情有點忐忑，加上農曆新年將至，原本大家也期望到不同的親戚朋友的家拜年，但社交距離的要求，大家出外用膳也不敢，他們怎能去探親呢？

In September 2020, all of us were so happy because we could come back to school as normal. We believed that the pandemic would be gone soon but it bounces back. The school is suspended again with the extension of the Lunar New Year holiday. It makes people fidgety with frustration. Lunar New Year is coming and everyone wants to visit friends and relatives. However, the social distancing measures need to be tightened again and it is impossible to eat out at night, how can we visit our relatives and friends?

原本一月八日(星期六)是我們的開放日，題目為「讓我們去旅行吧！」老師們花盡心思去設計，有關的工作準備真的由2021做到2022。他們明白這差不多三年的疫情，令很多喜歡旅行的人，都十分失望，只好期盼著，老師們忽發奇想，希望將學校改為機場，不同的課室變成不同的國家。他們言出必行，真的將學校改變為機場，你們猜猜我們會建構多少個國家給大家參觀。大家不用擔心，我們會將物件保存好，疫情過後會再次讓同學感受一下。

The Open Day was scheduled on 8th January 2022 which is called “Let’s Take a journeY”. All the teachers put their heart and soul into designing and decorating the school. Indeed, this project had been across the year of 2021 to 2022. They understand that people who love traveling is a kind of torture for them no to travel for almost 3 years. All the teachers had a whim to change the ground floor of the school becoming an airport and some classrooms changed to be different countries. They spent a lot of time and they finally did it. Please try to guess how many countries you can visit in LTY? No worry! All these props and decorations are kept well and we will let our students to enjoy it when all of you come back to school.

每年，我們理應安排不同的遊學團給同學們走出香港，拓闊視野。之前我們曾經到過新加坡、高雄、上海等。疫情原因，也只好停止相關交流活動。但在本月，我們在教育局舉辦及資助的「姊妹學校」計劃中，與佛山禪城區的東鄱小學聯盟。我們會在學校安裝相關的通訊軟、硬件，來支援我們兩校在分隔兩地情況下在不同層面交流，詳情容後公佈。為什麼我們可以與佛山學校結盟。原因是在十二年前，我借調到教育局的小學校本課程發展組，到內地分享英語教學的經驗，這兩年不單獲益良多，更認識不少內地的老師，他們在推廣英語教學不遺餘力，當中有些老師成為好朋友，在這十幾年也保持聯絡，在假期更會互相探望。當年我就在東鄱小學為駐校老師，在這邊向老師、同學推介對英語的教學或學習的方法。當年與我共事的梁老師已經成為梁副校長，我們在一拍即合的情況下，撮合了這次姊妹學校的聯盟，我很大期望十二年後的合作，會有什麼火花呢？

The school used to organize oversea learning excursion for our students to broaden their horizon. We have been to Singapore, Taiwan, Shanghai and other provinces of China. Owing to the pandemic, all these excursions are cancelled. ‘Sister School Scheme’ is subsidized by Education Bureau. Our school has formed sister schools with our counterparts in the Mainland. Foshan Chancheng Dongpo Primary School is formed an alliance with our school. Although we cannot visit there in person, our school will install new gadgets with some software to communicate with them through Internet. All the details will be announced later. Why is our school formed an alliance with Dongpo Primary School? Almost 12 years ago, I was seconded to the school-based curriculum section in Education Bureau. All the seconded teachers were recruited to promote English Teaching in some province in China near Hong Kong. I was assigned to Foshan for 2 consecutive years. In these 2 years, I benefited a lot in my pedagogies which let me quaint more about teaching in China. Of course, I knew lot of teachers who were enthusiastic to promote English teaching. Some of the teachers become my best friends and we have been keeping contact for over a decade. I sometimes visited them and shared at their schools. Dongpo Primary School was the first one I stationed there to share my teaching experiences with the teachers and to demonstrate how to teach with their students. At that time, Ms. Tina Leung was my teaching partner and we taught together and we shared together in from of lots of teachers in Foshan. Now, Ms. Tina Leung is the Vice Principal. We are so excited for this affiliation and we can’t wait to see what will happen again.

LTY becomes famous and popular after the ‘Christmas Tree’ case published. Lots of neighborhoods, friends, alumni know us. Some medias in the Internet invited me for an interview. 農曆新年對於我們中國人是一個重要的節日，這節日以往都會熱熱鬧鬧地渡過，例如︰行花市、到親戚朋友家拜訪、買新衣服、打掃家居、吃團年飯、逗利是……相信今年難以實踐，但我們不希望同學們失望，所以中文科的老師如常為大家準備了中華文化日，但以分享會、話劇欣賞、做手工等在網上發放。更為大家拍了一短片，祝福大家。LTY新年短片

Lunar New Year is such an important festival for Chinese. It is a boisterous festival that people have a lot of duties to do such as walking the flower market, visit friends and relatives, buying new clothes, cleaning the house, having reunion dinner, getting red packets …… I believe that it is hard to finish the above activities. We should not easily feel disappointed. Our Chinese teachers prepared some activities for our students to enjoy like sharing of Chinese traditions and taboos, drama appreciation, making art crafts. Beside, we made a short video to sharing our love and care to all of you.

虎年將至，祝大家龍精虎猛、萬事如意，最重要是身體健康。希望我們早日在學校見面，一起學習、一起生活、一起分享。

Year of Tiger is coming! Wishing all of you energetic as a tiger, all the things you need to handle must be smooth. The most important thing is good health. I wish we will meet soon at school and let us learn together, live together and share together.
